Jakarta, October 17, 2023 - PT Pertamina (Persero) is providing export trade training to 30 selected Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in collaboration with the Center for Export and Trade Service Human Resources Training (PPEJP) under the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia. These 30 selected MSMEs have completed the Pertamina UMK Academy in the 'Go Online' and 'Go Global' categories. This training is a preparatory step for these MSMEs to participate in the Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2023, scheduled from October 18 to October 22, 2023, at ICE-BSD in Tangerang, Jakarta.
The export trade training program is conducted intensively offline over three days, during which participants are prepared to participate in the largest international business-to-business (B-to-B) trade exhibition, TEI 2023. This training is a collaboration between PT Pertamina (Persero) and the Ministry of Trade as part of their ongoing support for export-ready MSMEs.
"We have developed a specialized, comprehensive curriculum to equip MSMEs to enter the export market. Throughout the three-day training, participants not only receive theoretical knowledge but also practical simulations of the export process, covering aspects such as documentation, customs procedures, product shipping procedures, and monitoring transactions until the funds enter the exporter's bank account. The most crucial factor when entering the global market is commitment, which serves as the foundation for building trust with buyers and ensuring long-term transactions," stated Sugih Rahmansyah, Head of the Center for Export and Trade Service Human Resources Training.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, emphasized that the 30 selected MSMEs will benefit from this export trade training. Moreover, these MSMEs have been carefully curated to possess high-quality products, capacities, and product continuity.
"This makes them well-prepared to participate in TEI 2023, a promotional event that serves as a benchmark for market research. Business operators can also engage directly with international buyers. It is estimated that this exhibition will attract foreign buyers from 100 countries," he added.
Fadjar further pointed out that MSMEs have significant export potential, given their substantial capabilities. Export trade training is a key support, enabling business operators to understand the necessary steps and procedures for successful exports. It is hoped that MSMEs can effectively communicate with buyers to reach agreements.
Throughout 2023, Pertamina has provided export trade training to 60 MSMEs divided into two batches.
"I greatly appreciate and thank Pertamina for offering us the opportunity to participate in this insightful and knowledge-filled export training program," said Novi Kurnia, owner of Abon Cap Koki Purbalingga, an MSME participating in the export training.
Novi highlighted the well-structured training content, which has equipped her to address challenges she may encounter when entering the international market. She hopes with this new knowledge, her company can optimize its export strategies and achieve sustainable growth on a global scale. "I cannot wait to see the results of implementing the concepts we have learned during this training. I am confident that the future of our business in the international market looks promising. From Purbalingga to the world," she said.
In this year's Trade Expo Indonesia 2023, the 30 MSMEs supported by Pertamina are well-prepared to enhance the largest trade exhibition in Indonesia. They will showcase top-quality products, including food and beverages, fashion items, crafts, and herbal products. Alongside the exhibition, Trade Expo Indonesia 2023 features a series of parallel events, including an International Seminar, Business Matching, and Business Counseling.
The Pertamina-fostered MSMEs' involvement in various domestic and international exhibitions is a key part of Pertamina's contribution to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly focusing on goal 8 concerning job creation and economic growth, as well as the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) programs implementation across all of Pertamina's operational areas.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement.
