Area Manager Comm, Rel, & CSR of Pertamina Patra Niaga Sulawesi Region, Laode Syarifuddin Mursali said Pertamina had formed the Pertamina Siaga Task Force from November 8 to January 10, 2022, to anticipate and secure the distribution of fuel and LPG amid high rainfall and potential natural disasters that appear in Sulawesi as well as Christmas and New Year.
"Facing Christmas & New Year's Day, Pertamina ensures that fuel and LPG stocks are sufficient. So that people can transport safely and comfortably without the need to make excessive purchases because we ensure that fuel is always available," he said.
Laode also explained that Pertamina Patra Niaga Sulawesi Region has anticipated an increase in consumption and has predicted and calculated the projected increase in fuel and LPG consumption at Christmas and New Year's, which are predicted to increase fuel consumption for Gasoline by 5%, Gasoil by 9%, LPG both PSO and Non-PSO are predicted to increase in total by 1.1% and increase in Avtur consumption for aviation fuel by 10%. Based on this projection, Pertamina Patra Niaga Sulawesi Region build up a stock of 15% for fuel, an additional 3% of LPG supply or a total of more than 1.6 million cylinders, and 15% for Avtur in all Fuel Terminals and Integrated Terminals, as well as LPG Filling Point which is in Sulawesi.
"Pertamina has taken into account the increase in fuel demand, especially the increase in demand at points that are prone to congestion, cities where Christmas celebrations are concentrated, such as Manado and Toraja, as well as main tourist route points in Sulawesi," said Laode.
Laode added that apart from alerting all distribution agencies in Sulawesi. Pertamina has also strengthened its fuel distribution service during the Christmas and New Year holidays with extra services by alerting 1 unit of Mobile Dispenser in Makassar, 7 Pouch petrol stations points, and alerting 22 Motorists through Pertamina Delivery Service (PDS) throughout Sulawesi.
"This extra service is, of course, to make it easier for the public to get fuel and ensure the availability of stock at the petrol station. Pertamina will provide the best energy services so that people can safely and calmly get their energy needs to celebrate Christmas and New Year. If a disaster occurs at some point, we have prepared an alternative supply pattern plan," Laode added.

The Trend of Pertamax and Dex Consumption Increases During Christmas & New Years
During the Christmas and New Year holidays, Pertamina asks and recommends the public to purchase quality fuels such as the Pertamax Series and Dex Series which can also be purchased at Pertashop.
Pertamina noted that at last Christmas and New Year, a very high increase in consumption occurred in Pertamax Series products such as Pertamax, which rose 16.2% and Pertamax Turbo increased by 35.3%, as well as Pertamina Dex whose consumption increased by 40% compared to normal consumption at that time. "This proves that the people of Sulawesi are aware of quality fuel usage for long trips and hope that it can be applied continuously using fuel according to the vehicle manual for daily consumption so that the engine is maintained," said Laode.
Separately on the sidelines of the inauguration of a petrol station in Daya, Makassar, Mayor of Makassar Moh Ramdhan Pomanto advised the public to continue to use quality fuels such as the Pertamax Series and Dex Series. He also appealed to the public to follow the trend of vehicle technology developments and refuel according to their vehicle specifications.
