Pertamina SMEXPO 2023 Succeeded, Retail Sales Turnover Increases by 293%

Jakarta, November 6, 2023 — The Pertamina Small Medium Enterprise Expo (SMEXPO) 2023 was successfully conducted. The series of events from October 31 to November 5, 2023, at Gandaria City Mall, Jakarta, attracted consumer attention, recording a retail transaction value of IDR 1.3 billion, marking a 293% increase compared to the Pertamina SMEXPO Jakarta in 2022, which stood at IDR 450 million. The event also noted a commitment to business transactions from both domestic and international buyers, amounting to IDR 13 billion, an increase from the previous year's IDR 10 billion.

Erry Widiastono, Pertamina's Business Support Director, stated that the Pertamina SMEXPO 2023 purpose was to encourage fostered Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) to step onto the international stage. Through SMEXPO, MSMEs enhance their self-confidence by following their capabilities and skills in understanding market trends and innovating based on market needs.

“Pertamina SMEXPO 2023 is not just a showcase of MSMEs products but also a mentoring platform provided by Pertamina for MSMEs players aiming to improve their abilities and skills in understanding market trends,” he said during the Pertamina SMEXPO 2023 closing at Gandaria City, Jakarta, on Sunday (5/11/2023).

Erry added that the sales turnover during the six-day event activities in Jakarta fulfilled the target, reaching IDR 1.3 billion from retail buyers and an additional IDR 13 billion from potential business consumers from domestic and international markets intending to place bulk orders.

These buyers from the business sector stemmed from the business matching activities provided by Pertamina as part of the Pertamina SMEXPO 2023. This business matching successfully connected potential buyers, including hoteliers, restaurateurs, cafe owners, and corporations. Among them were representatives from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Indonesian entrepreneurs from various regions, as well as businessmen from Malaysia, China, Korea, and the United States.

The influx of foreign consumers reflects Pertamina's aspiration to develop its fostered MSMEs globally, following the theme of Pertamina SMEXPO 2023, “Moving from Local to Global”.

Achieving MURI Record

Pertamina SMEXPO 2023 also caught the attention of the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI). During the SMEXPO 2023 closing in Jakarta, MURI acknowledged Pertamina's commitment to providing training for disabled individuals who excel through MSMEs.

The award was presented by Triyono, a representative from MURI, to the Business Support Director of Pertamina, Erry Widiastono. "We at MURI present this award to Pertamina for their commitment to providing inclusive and disability training. This not only enhances soft skills but also provides a market or opportunities for disabled MSME players to enter the global market," he stated.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, revealed that from 2022 to 2023, Pertamina empowered over 500 people with disabilities. Some of them have become self-reliant and absorbed into various industries, aligning with the development of the MSME sector.

Meanwhile, the disabled community, or the "Sobat Istimewa" Pertamina, participated in SMEXPO 2023 this year through six supported MSMEs: Kresna Patra, Safina Quilt, Merajut Asa Kita, Rumah Jahit Lestari, Mutiara Handycraft, and Batik Sasambo.

"The MSMEs mentoring is Pertamina's effort to encourage community self-reliance and economic growth, including empowering the disabled community to be more self-confident, useful, and independent," Fadjar expressed.

Aside from Jakarta, the SMEXPO 2023 was also held in three other major cities: Balikpapan (October 26-28, 2023), Semarang (November 3-5, 2023), and Pekanbaru (November 15-19, 2023).
