Jakarta, October 26, 2024 – Coffee lovers should not miss the Pertamina Small Medium Enterprise Expo (SMEXPO) 2024. This annual event, featuring Pertamina's supported MSMEs, opens on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Kota Kasablanka Mall in Jakarta. Titled “Lokal jadi Vokal” (“Local Goes Vocal”), it is a paradise for coffee enthusiasts, showcasing various coffee selections from Java to Sumatra.
This popular drink is widely offered by Pertamina’s MSME partners, thanks to its unique flavors and innovative products that attract consumers.
For example, Kopi Putra Abadi, a Pertamina’s fostered partner from South Sumatra, offers various coffee products, from drinks to coffee-flavored snacks. Dionisio T. Saputra, the owner of Kopi Putra Abadi, shared that his family business combines traditional chips with the local coffee flavors from Pagar Alam, South Sumatra.
“Our signature coffee includes fine robusta or premium robusta. Our new product line includes coffee-flavored sticks and wontons. We started with chips in 2006 but began working with coffee in 2015,” Dion said during SMEXPO 2024.
Putra Abadi’s factory currently processes up to 12 tons of coffee from local South Sumatran farmers annually. The MSME also plans to expand by opening a coffee shop in South Sumatra soon.
Dion noted that the average income generated at SMEXPO reaches IDR 5 million, indicating high visitor interest in his products. The event also allows Kopi Putra Abadi to raise brand awareness.
“We involve local farmers to help promote coffee, ensuring they produce premium quality coffee. We are also trying to change perceptions around coffee; it is not always bitter or dark,” he explained.
Dion acknowledged, however, that rising global coffee bean prices due to climate-affected harvests in major producing countries pose a challenge for the coffee industry.
“This increase makes coffee more expensive in Indonesia and can impact the lives of farmers,” he explained.
Also present at SMEXPO 2024 in Jakarta is Kopi Berbagi, a coffee shop that employs members of Sobat Istimewa, a disabled community.
Dwiky Setya Bakti, Operations Manager of Kopi Berbagi, explained that the coffee shop in Margahayu, Bandung, is unique for employing individuals with disabilities in various roles, including baristas, waitstaff, and kitchen staff.
“At Kopi Berbagi, we employ several disabled employees. Our baristas, waiters, and kitchen team include people with disabilities,” Dwiky shared at SMEXPO 2024.
Beyond the staff, Kopi Berbagi’s layout and facilities are also disability-friendly. In terms of products, their signature coffee is aromatic coffee with milk.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, noted that Pertamina SMEXPO 2024 supports Pertamina’s fostered MSMEs’ growth.
“Through SMEXPO 2024, we have organized various activities to promote quality MSME products to the public and stakeholders. We hope these activities increase market access for MSMEs,” Fadjar said.
SMEXPO 2024 takes place over six days, from October 22–28, at the Grand Atrium of Kota Kasablanka Mall in Jakarta. Pertamina-supported MSMEs showcase hundreds of products, from crafts to processed foods. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of high-quality local products, with exciting promotions, discounts, and fun activities throughout the event.
