Pertamina Successfully Extinguished Fires in Cilacap Refinery Tank Area

Cilacap, June 13, 2021 - Pertamina successfully extinguished the fire incident in tank area 39, Pertamina Cilacap Refinery complex, Sunday (13/6/2021). It was conveyed by the President Director of PT Pertamina International Refinery (KPI), Djoko Priyono, in a press conference, Sunday afternoon at Pertamina RU IV Head Office, Jalan MT Haryono, Cilacap.

Djoko said this is the hard work of Pertamina officers for less than 40 hours since the Benzene-filled tank fire incident occurred on Friday night (11/6/2021). "Exactly on Sunday, at 10.50 WIB, the Pertamina Cilacap Refinery was able to extinguish all the fires around the tank area 39. Everything was in smooth condition and extinguished," he explained.

Currently, Djoko continued, his party continues to monitor the cooling process using foam in the tank area. It is to ensure there are no more new hotspots. "We also continue to measure the tank temperature, and currently, it is at 35 degrees Celsius. With this temperature, we can be sure that there will be no more potential for new hotspots, although we are still on standby," he said.

On the same occasion, Djoko, who also served as GM of the Pertamina Cilacap Refinery, expressed his appreciation to the Cilacap Regency Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) continuous support in handling this incident. "There is the Regent, Deputy Regent, Police Chief (Kapolres), Military District Commando Commander (Dandim), Commander of the Indonesian Navy Base (Danlanal), and Head State Attorney (Kajari), who always support us. We also thank the media who continue to convey the development of this incident to the public," he added.

This incident, according to Djoko, did not cause any problems for consumers, both the general public and consumers from the Petrochemical industry. "As stated by Mrs. Nicke Widyawati as President Director of Pertamina, this incident from the start had no impact on refinery operations or distribution of fuel and LPG. Everything is safe," he concluded.
