Palembang, July 24, 2024 - July 23 is known as National Children's Day, a time usually marked by various activities and events specially organized for children. In 2024, the theme "Protected Children, Advanced Indonesia" prioritizes the quality of children and youth that significantly determines national progress.
Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagsel, through its Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental (TJSL) program, held activities to commemorate National Children's Day 2024 in Palembang, including at Kampung Literasi 26 Ilir and Talang Jambe Village.
At Kampung Literasi 26 Ilir, the event showcased the works of the children from Kampung Literasi 26 Ilir, including a fashion show, a display of recycled materials turned into historical buildings in Palembang, a forum by the Forum of Children of South Sumatra Province, energy education by Pertamina officers, and the symbolic donation of a Program for Empowering the Kampung Literasi Group.
Sri Warsiti, Coordinator of Bukit Kecil Sub-district of the Palembang City Education Department, expressed her appreciation for the activities to commemorate National Children's Day. She highlighted that these activities could develop the creative potential of children and teenagers at Kampung Literasi Rusun 26 Ilir.
“It is an extraordinary achievement because, despite the limitations of Kampung Literasi 26 Ilir, Pertamina continues to provide support along with stakeholders from the sub-district, village, Children’s Forum, residents, and the Chairperson of Kampung Literasi, who, despite their busy schedules, still have the energy to contribute. It makes Kampung Literasi 26 Ilir a center for broadening horizons for their future,” she said.
Oca Tresia, the Founder and Chairperson of Kampung Literasi, expressed her gratitude and appreciation to Pertamina for the care and assistance provided to Kampung Literasi, including renovations and other support for the beneficiaries.
“We want to change the negative image of public housing so that it is not looked down upon by society. We create and innovate human resources at Kampung Literasi to prove that not all public housing residents lack education,” Oca said.
At the same event, Pertamina, through the Aviasi Fuel Terminal (AFT) Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin (SMB) II, held a child health counseling session on nutrition during the first 1000 days of life to optimize children's growth and development in Talang Jambi Village. They also distributed 50 supplementary food packages containing formula milk, free-range chicken eggs, marinated catfish, moringa chicken noodles, and butterfly pea flower herbal drinks to malnourished and stunted children under the supervision of the local health center.
Dila Amanda Kenniza, Sr. Supervisor of CSR & SMEPP of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagsel, stated that Pertamina would continue to implement its CSRE commitment, hoping that every child gets the widest opportunity to grow and develop, receive protection, and have their rights fulfilled.
“Pertamina remains committed to implementing TJSL programs under one of the pillars, Pertamina Cerdas, through the Kampung Literasi 26 Ilir Program dedicated to children around the 26 Ilir village to get a better education. We also contribute to reducing the stunting rate in Indonesia through supplementary food distribution and 1000 days of life counseling to optimize children's growth and development,” Dila said.
