Jakarta, August 4, 2023 - PT Pertamina (Persero) is set to construct various essential infrastructures, including a hospital, accommodation or hotel, and campus in the Capital City of Nusantara (Ibu Kota Nusantara/IKN).
Salyadi Saputra, the Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development of Pertamina, stated that the Pertamina Group sees opportunities for business development in the Capital City of Nusantara (IKN).
"Pertamina plans to build supporting facilities in IKN according to the business sectors of its subsidiaries involved in Health, Hospitality, and Education. The integrated area development in IKN using the smart city forest concept aligns with Pertamina's commitment to conduct business with the Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all business lines and operations," said Salyadi.
Salyadi added that Pertamina plans to develop the Hospital through its subsidiary, PT Pertamina Bina Medika-IHC, the Hotel Resort through its subsidiary, PT Patra Jasa, and the Vocational University through Universitas Pertamina within an integrated area in IKN.
Furthermore, for transportation facilities, PT Pelita Air Service will establish a flight connection hub or second hub in Balikpapan, with its process commencing in the fourth quarter of 2023.
"Pertamina, through its subsidiary Pertamina Bina Medika IHC, will build hospitals and clinics in the IKN area. For the clinics, we may be able to construct and operate them shortly, possibly within this year, and for more advanced healthcare services, patients will be referred to the Pertamina Hospital in Balikpapan," Salyadi stated.
Salyadi added that the plan is for the hospital to be built on a 50-hectare land, with a target of only 20% of the land being developed, while the remaining area will be green open space.
"The hotel's construction is planned to utilize designs incorporating materials like processed bamboo, rattan, and local wood as abundant building resources. We hope the hotel will be operational by next year," Salyadi continued.
As for the educational facility development, Universitas Pertamina plans to establish a modern campus with a green-building concept on a 50-hectare land.
"The university campus will include administrative and faculty buildings with a growing and evolving concept, equipped with accommodation facilities for professors and students," said Salyadi.
For transportation, Pelita Air Service will operate several domestic flights from Balikpapan.
"Pelita Air Service will allocate more Airbus A320 aircraft to operate in the Balikpapan hub to serve domestic routes, including destinations directly connected to Balikpapan," Salyadi emphasized.
Pelita Air has opened flight routes to Balikpapan with a frequency of 14 flights per week since March 20, 2023, and will continue to increase flight frequencies to strengthen Pelita Air's position as the airline with the best connectivity to IKN.
"To realize these plans, we continue to coordinate intensively with the IKN Authority," concluded Salyadi.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
