Jakarta, September 13, 2023 – The Singapura Village community in Lahat Regency can now enjoy energy from solar panels. The renewable energy installation is utilized for aquaponics, fishing ponds, and micro-business activities such as red coffee bean production and more.
"Environmentally friendly renewable energy utilization greatly enhances red coffee bean processing and other business units' productivity. It can also be utilized by early childhood education institutions (PAUD) and Posyandu to improve the life quality in Singapura Village. This also broadens our perspective on environmentally friendly renewable energy and its potential to assist the government in mitigating climate change," said Aristo Hasan, the head of Singapura Village in Lahat Regency, South Sumatera.
Singapura Village is one of the villages that has recently gained access to renewable energy through Pertamina's Desa Energy Berdikari (DEB) Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program. In this program, Pertamina provides access to renewable energy available in each village, and with the community, they utilize this energy to stimulate economic and social activities.
In addition to Singapura Village, five other areas that have recently become Pertamina's DEB are Tambakharjo Village in Semarang, Eka Jaya in Jambi, Tasikharjo in Tuban Regency, Larangan Village in Cirebon, and Kedonganan Traditional Village in Badung Regency. In these six DEBs, Pertamina distributes electricity from Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in collaboration with Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (PNRE), a Pertamina subsidiary specializing in renewable energy.
VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, emphasizes that Pertamina continues its energy transition experience through DEB Pertamina until the community achieves energy and economic self-sufficiency.
"By September 2023, we have established 58 DEB Pertamina projects across Indonesia. We hope that this DEB program will have a positive impact on society. It starts by boosting economic activities within the community, achieving energy self-reliance in village areas, and ultimately supporting Indonesia in reducing pollution and combating climate change," explained Fadjar.
Concrete evidence of the Pertamina’s DEB program supporting the local economy can be seen in Tasikharjo, Tuban Regency, where solar panels are used to support MSME activities such as the Batik Sekar Tanjung MSME Program, the Sewing Sekar Tanjung Program, and the Ethical Creative Tasikharjo Program.
The DEB Pertamina program has been implemented since 2019. Since then, the Desa Energi Berdikari Program has generated benefits such as 170,880 wp of solar power, 605,000 m3/year of biogas and methane energy, 8,000 watts of micro-hydro energy, 6,500 liters of biodiesel energy per year, and 16,500 wp of hybrid solar and wind power.
In addition to energy impacts, the DEB Program has an economic impact on 3,201 households with a total multiplier effect of 1.8 billion per year. Not to forget, it reduces carbon emissions by 565,928 tons of CO2eq per year.
The DEB Pertamina program supports the company's ESG achievements and aligns with SDGs points 7 (Clean and Affordable Energy), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and 13 (Climate Action). Furthermore, this program serves as Pertamina's tangible effort to support the government's goal of achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2060.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
