Jakarta, October 10, 2024 – PT Pertamina (Persero) facilitated Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to go global on the first day of the 2024 Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) in Tangerang, Wednesday (9/10/2024). Three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, with Haluan Bali MSME partnering with a buyer from the Netherlands, while Bawadi MSME and Bali Honey MSME with buyers from Malaysia.
President Joko Widodo officially opened the 39th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2024, held at Nusantara Hall, Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD), Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. In his speech, the President highlighted global challenges affecting world economic growth and international trade while emphasizing the importance of innovation in marketing Indonesian products to the global market.
"As a country with a large market and the fourth largest population in the world, with 280 million people, we must be able to protect our domestic market and market our products effectively so that we can dominate the local market and continue to expand widely into foreign markets," said the President, as quoted from the press release of the Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of the Presidential Secretariat.
TEI is Indonesia’s largest product exhibition aimed at facilitating export collaboration, showcasing various food and beverage products, agriculture, manufacturing, household items, and unique Indonesian crafts.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), expressed appreciation for the buyers’ interest in Pertamina’s fostered MSMEs. On the first day of TEI 2024, MSMEs received positive responses from international buyers, indicating potential export opportunities.
"The positive response from TEI visitors shows that Indonesian MSME products, especially those fostered by Pertamina, can compete and are in demand in international markets. It is a great first step to encourage MSMEs to go global," he stated.
In the event, attended by business players from more than 100 countries, Pertamina's fostered MSMEs showcased leading products in the food and beverage sector, handicrafts, fashion, commodities, jewelry, and eco-friendly products.
Fadjar added that Pertamina has provided export training and mentorship in preparation for TEI 2024. These programs are designed to help MSMEs adapt to international standards, from product quality and packaging to digital marketing strategies. Some fostered MSMEs have even achieved international standard certifications, adding value to their competitiveness in the global market.
TEI 2024 will be held until October 12, 2024.
“We hope that at this TEI event, more of Pertamina’s fostered MSMEs will have the opportunity to establish partnerships with international buyers,” Fadjar concluded.
The MSMEs development is part of Pertamina’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental (TJSL) program, aligned with its commitment to helping Indonesian MSMEs grow and expand their export markets to achieve sustainable development.
