Pertamina's Fostered Partners Turnover Increases Drastically through GEN UMKM Social Media Promotion

Jakarta, April 18, 2021 - PT Pertamina (Persero), through the Partnership Program, is fully committed to assisting the micro and small enterprises (MSE) to become upgraded MSEs. One of the efforts is to facilitate digital promotion through social media managed by the Pertamina Partnership Program. This step has proven to be effective in increasing the number of business aspects of the fostered partners.

Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Agus Suprijanto, said several social media platforms are devoted to displaying matters related to fostered partners. Such as product promotion, coaching activities, to various events and competitions that can be participated by MSEs.

The term pinned on these various channels is the Galeri Entrepreneur Nusantara(GEN). Social media that contains a lot of infographics, photos, and brief information will be posted on Instagram: @gen_umkm and Facebook: Galeri Entrepreneur Nusantara. Information in the form of videos is mainly published on the Youtube channel: Gen UMKM.

Agus added, based on a survey conducted with several of Pertamina's fostered partners, there were positive developments in businesses that had implemented digital marketing with the assistance of Pertamina. "The average increase of turnover is 58 percent, in the conditions before and after being fostered by Pertamina," he said.

It is not uncommon for the increase in turnover to occur more than 100 percent, like Hendra Tjandra's Inspiration Craft venture. This business, which is engaged in handicrafts using the decoupage technique, has succeeded in getting a 5-fold increase in turnover after being fostered by Pertamina and its promotional facilities. "Previously, it was only IDR 2 million / month. Now it can be more than IDR 10 million," he said.

Apart from the turnover, the production capacity of the fostered partners also increased by 48 percent. It is in parallel with the need of workers where there is an addition of 37 percent on average. It is in line with implementing the 8th Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs), which is to provide decent work and support economic growth.

Apart from the above advantages, the changes that occur when marketing online are expanding the marketing area. The marketing that was in only a local scope is now expanded to regions, provinces, islands, and even between countries. "If the marketing has been carried out through digital media, people from any place can access it. Therefore, the marketing is broader," he said.

According to Agus, through the Partnership Program, Pertamina wants to provide the energy that drives the economy-energy that becomes fuel and energy that generates sustainable growth.

Apart from SDGs, Pertamina also tries to implement Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) in the social sector. In this way, Pertamina believes that it can consistently generate economic benefits in the community following environmental and social responsibilities.**
