Jakarta, January 1, 2022 – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), as the Regional Kalimantan Upstream Subholding, has succeeded in carrying out sustainable community empowerment through social and environmental responsibility programs.
Each field has its unique program referencing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It includes PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM)-BSP field with the Farmers Forward 4.0 program, namely a program to increase the capacity of local young farmers through pertaculture innovation. It also includes the PHM-SPU field with the Nelayanku Hebat program developing fish apartment and fishfinder innovations, part of the Delta Mahakam coastal eco-friendly fisheries system.
Meanwhile, the PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT)-DOBS field has the Civet Coffee Village program in Prangat Baru Village (Kapak Prabu). It empowers farmer groups in the Kopi Luwak village to become an icon of Luwak Liberika coffee edutourism.
In other fields, namely PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Sangasanga Field, there is the Tante Siska program. It is an Integrated Farmer Program, the Setaria Group Social Innovation System, and PEP Tarakan Field, which carries the Kubedistik program, namely the Tarakan Disability Batik House program.
These flagship programs implement social and sustainable innovation that supports the achievement of five Gold PROPER awards from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). PROPER is an Assessment Program for Company Performance Ratings in Environmental Management developed by the Ministry of Environment (KLH), where gold PROPER is the highest predicate.
Based on the Decree of the Director-General of Pollution and Environmental Damage Control Number SK.69/PPKL/SET/WAS.8/11/2021 concerning the Determination of Gold Candidates for the Assessment Program for Company Performance Ratings in Environmental Management for the Year 2020-2021. There are entities under the management of PHI, which received the gold PROPER and green PROPER titles in 2021, namely: 5 Gold PROPER Fields and 11 Green PROPER Fields.
The President Director of PHI-Regional Kalimantan, Chaid Said Salim, said that the achievement of PROPER in 2021 proves PHI's commitment to ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance). "This success is certainly achieved through planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and positive publication of excellent social and environmental responsibility programs with the synergy of PHI and all stakeholders," said Chalid.
"The PROPER 2021 event encourages oil and gas businesses, including PHI, to continue to develop and involve the community and related external stakeholders in carrying out social and environmental responsibility programs. One of the PROPER assessment criteria this year that is of particular concern to the PROPER Board is social innovation. Through social innovation, it is hoped that the company will be able to fully understand social problems around the work area and solve these problems appropriately," added Chalid.
