Jakarta, October 27, 2023 – PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) (IDX: PGEO) in the Kamojang Area has directly assisted in extinguishing the fire at Mount Papandayan. The fire has been ongoing since Sunday night, October 22, 2023. PGE deployed one fire truck, one fire jeep, and ten trained firefighting teams to the fire location.
The PGE team joined forces with a joint team coordinated by the Natural Resources Conservation Center (KSDA) of West Java Province. PGE also contributed 740 logistic packages to support the team and volunteers participating in the firefighting efforts.
"Pertamina is always concerned and active in disaster response, such as the fire at Mount Papandayan. We have deployed a well-trained and reliable team for emergency response, including firefighting. PGE has also provided firefighting facilities and logistical support for all volunteers who have participated in the firefighting efforts," said Rahmad Harahap, General Manager of PGE Kamojang Area.
On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, 152 individuals engaged in firefighting, divided into three fire locations: Masigit Block, Tegal Alun Block, and Goa Belanda Block, with support from the logistics team.
On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, approximately 50 joint team members were redeployed to continue activities at the fire site. The goal was to mop up along the fire location. This activity aimed to map the extent of the fire with drones and extinguish the remaining embers.
Thomas Nifinluri, the Director of Forest and Land Fire Control of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), who was present on the occasion, expressed appreciation for PGE's concern and assistance. Up to this point, the joint team is still conducting operations at Mount Papandayan in Garut.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that Pertamina is always concerned and acts swiftly to assist in any disasters, including forest fires.
