Jakarta, December 20, 2023 - Leading up to the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) period, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk ("PGN"), as a Gas Subholding of PT Pertamina (Persero), ensures that operational reliability and customer service will proceed smoothly.
PGN has evaluated the reliability of gas distribution, infrastructure, and manpower support in its preparations. PGN has also deployed 23 Nataru Task Force Teams and activated the Nataru Command Posts spread across operational infrastructure and network areas. In addition, the Disturbance Handling Team will be on standby 24 hours a day, ready for immediate response if needed.
The strategy employed to face Nataru involves planning estimates for customer volume demand and the natural gas supply availability. To anticipate gas supply disruptions, the LNG portfolio is used to maintain the natural gas services distribution.
"We have prepared for Nataru by estimating customer gas volume needs and supply availability. In this regard, we can optimize the LNG portfolio and its infrastructure if there are problems in gas supply. The Nataru Task Force and our special posts start from this month until early January 2024," stated Ratih Esti Prihatini, Director of Sales & Operations of PGN, on 20/12/2023. Ratih added that, so far, operational activities have been running smoothly, and customer demand volumes are met, including unloading cargo processes in Arun.
To provide easy access to information for customers and the public, PGN is educating about these services through various channels. It includes communication via SMS, social media, and a 24-hour Contact Center at 135. All PGN area offices are also on standby to provide service comfort to those in need.
To ensure the infrastructure operations reliability, PGN has strengthened its gas pressure monitoring and control system throughout its network in real-time through the Integrated Monitoring Center (IMOC). Network patrols are also carried out periodically for infrastructure locations and land and water networks. All forms of supervision are integrated and represent a commitment to PGN's digitalization efforts to enhance the natural gas services and operations reliability.
"PGN is also collaborating with the Indonesian Military (TNI) and Police (Polri) as security forces in handling and preparing for Nataru, as well as ensuring our natural gas distribution reliability," added Ratih. Further, support from stakeholders, including community oversight, benefits PGN in maintaining its assets and services.
Currently, PGN provides natural gas distribution services to 4,986 customers in the industrial, commercial, and small fields, as well as 834,165 household customers ("jargas"). Natural gas services are delivered through a natural gas infrastructure that spans over 30,000 km. Furthermore, other gas fuels ("BBG") supply is distributed through various modes through Gas Fueling Stations ("SPBG") and Mobile Refueling Units ("MRU") with a capacity of 177,750 liters equivalent to premium (LSP).
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that the Pertamina Group has activated the Nataru Task Force since December 15, 2023. During this Task Force period, the Pertamina Group will ensure the energy availability to meet public needs. "Pertamina guarantees the national energy stock's resilience so that during Nataru, people celebrating and traveling can do so comfortably and smoothly," Fadjar said.
PGN hopes that with all the preparations and support from stakeholders, the reliability of natural gas energy supply for the community will always be available and support the government's efforts in maintaining the stability of national energy availability.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
