Drilling of the 100th tajak well in the Rokan Working Area at Petapahan 462 well, Kampar Regency, Sunday night (21/11). PHR WK Rokan launched a massive and aggressive work plan to increase the productivity of the second largest oil and gas WK in the country.

PHR Successfully Drilled 100th Well Only After 100 Days

Pekanbaru, November 23, 2021 -  PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan(PHR) has successfully drilled its 100th well. This well adds to the record of significant achievements in the new wells drilling program in the Rokan Working Area (WK), Riau. On Sunday evening (21/11), around 21:00 WIB, PHR WK Rokan succeeded the Petapahan 462 well drilling in Kampar Regency. All drilling was achieved with zero fatal accidents and only three and a half months after the Rokan WK management transfer on August 9, 2021.

"This extraordinary achievement shows WK Rokan workers' commitment to increase production and support national energy security. We realize that the multiplier effect from WK Rokanoperation is significant for the country's foreign exchange, regional income, and the economy of the community around the operating area," said President Director of PHR, Jaffee A. Suardin, through a written statement on Tuesday (11/23). Therefore, PHR WK Rokan must show superior performance to support Pertamina's vision of becoming a world-class national energy company.

Jaffee added that WK Rokan's achievement was also supported by the spirit of One Team, One Goal or One Team, One Goal from all levels of management to workers in the field. "We also thank all relevant stakeholders who have supported the PHR operation. It includes the local government, TNI/Polri, SKK Migas, community leaders, and the wider community," said the President Director of PHR.

Starting last week, PHR WK Rokan has also operated its 17th rig, which follows PHR WK Rokan's work plan to support a massive and aggressive drilling program until the end of this year, around 161 tajak wells. Drilling of new wells and rework of old wells continue to increase production. Currently, PHR WK Rokan produces 162 thousand BOPD (barrels of oil per day), or an increase of 4 thousand BOPD compared to before the management transfer, which was in the range of 158,000 BOPD.

The PHR WK Rokan production contributes almost a quarter of the total national oil production. It is one of the backbones to achieve the national production target of 1 million barrels of oil per day (BPD) and 12 billion cubic feet of gas per day (bscfd) by 2030.

The massive and aggressive work plan of PHR WK Rokan is carried out through drilling new production wells program, managing base business performance to curb the natural decline in production, and the reliability of operating facilities. Various breakthroughs were made so that the new well targets can be achieved. Among others, the drilling team carried out several activities in parallel (offline activity), increased the reliability of drilling equipment, and developed careful planning in fulfilling supporting resources to avoid waiting time for service or materials. These breakthroughs follow Pertamina's spirit to increase productivity in efficient ways.

Apart from the production, PHR WK Rokan also contributes significantly to state and regional revenues. In the first two months after management transfer, PHR WK Rokan contributed IDR 2.1 trillion in state revenue through the state's share of crude oil sale and tax payments of around IDR 607.5 billion, including taxes to the regions.**
