Pekanbaru, November 5, 2021 – PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) operation in the Rokan Working Area (WK) has provided benefits for the state, region, and the surrounding community. Two months after managing WK Rokan, PHR has contributed state revenue through state crude oil sales of around IDR 2.1 trillion and tax payments of around IDR 607.5 billion, including taxes to the regions.
"This contribution is a clear proof of how the presence of upstream oil and gas business activities. In this case, PHR operations had provided benefits to the state and region. WK Rokan is a national strategic asset. Therefore, it must be supported by all stakeholders," said President Director of PHR, Jaffee A. Suardin.
Jaffee continued that PHR operations also provide other multiplier effects, such as meeting national energy needs, creating jobs, business opportunities for local entrepreneurs, and improving people's welfare. WK Rokan's operations are currently supported by more than 25,000 workers, most of whom are local Riau residents.
The massive and aggressive PHR work plan should be welcomed positively. Business and employment opportunities for local communities have become more open, the value of investments in Riau has also increased. Recently, PHR has discussed and coordinated with the Riau Provincial Government regarding the potential for additional taxes for the region. One of them was triggered by changes in the Production Sharing Contract scheme, from a cost recovery scheme to a gross split. "Therefore, in the future, PHR is optimistic that it can make a greater contribution to state and regional revenues from upstream oil and gas activities in the Rokan WK," said Jaffee.
The intensity of PHR operations in the Rokan WK has increased following 161 tajak wells target since the management transfer from August 9 to the end of this year. To date, PHR has drilled more than 79 wells by operating 16 rigs. The number of rigs will continue to be added to achieve the target number of steep wells. Next year, the PHR target is even higher, namely 500 tajak wells. Increased activity in WK Rokan will increase the pulse of economic activity in Riau.
"WK Rokan is one of the backbones of efforts to achieve the national production target of 1 million barrels of oil per day (BPD) and gas of 12 billion cubic feet per day (bscfd) in 2030. Production of WK Rokan contributes almost 25 percent of national oil production," concluded Jaffee.**
