PLN Offers Electricity and Steam Supply to Rokan Work Area, Pertamina is Ready to Discuss Cooperation

Jakarta, October 29, 2020 – PT Pertamina (Persero) continues to make various preparations for the smooth operation of the Rokan Work Area (WK) when Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) officially operates the work area starting from August 9, 2021. One of them is ensuring electricity and steam supplies for the Work Area to be maintained.

SVP of Corporate Communication & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Agus Suprijanto, said Pertamina is building communication with various parties for the operational preparation of WK Rokan. It includes the provision of electricity and steam, which are indispensable to support the continuity of oil production activities, which currently reaches 170,000 barrels of oil per day (approx. 25% of national oil production).

PLN has submitted an initial offer to Pertamina regarding the supply of electricity and steam. "Pertamina welcomes PLN's desire to provide electricity and steam supply for WK Rokan starting from August 9, 2021. By cooperating with SOE in the electricity sector, we hope that the preparation of post-outsourced electricity and steam supply will remain safe. PLN and PHR will conduct intensive discussions regarding this matter shortly," said Agus.

Currently, WK Rokan gets electricity and steam supply from an integrated power system, including three main power generation facilities, namely Minas Gas Turbine, Central Duri Gas, and North Duri Cogen (NDC).

Regarding PLN's offer to provide electricity and steam at WK Rokan, Agus said that Pertamina has submitted a response and is waiting for a further proposal from the power company. Pertamina hopes that the discussion of the Electricity and Steam Sale and Purchase Agreement with PLN will run well and smoothly, so that it can be signed in November 2020.

"The synergy among energy SOEs does not only increase portfolios that mutually reinforce operational performance in their respective business sectors. It is also expected to encourage the government's strategic development projects to run well according to the expected target," Agus concluded.
