Jakarta, August 11, 2021 - The process of handing over the Rokan Working Area (Blok Rokan) from PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) to the Oil and Gas Special Task Force (SKK Migas) and forwarded to Pertamina Hulu Rokan as PT Pertamina (Persero) subsidiary has taken place on August 9, 2021.
Pertamina Hulu Rokan immediately carries out the mandate from the Government to continue the management of the Rokan Block and ensure that the operational process does not experience obstacles and maintain the production level of all oil and gas fields in the working area.
The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, welcomed the managing process of the Rokan Block and congratulated Pertamina. After more than 90 years of management carried out by Chevron, since August 9, 2021, one of the natural resources of Bumi Lancang Kuning is in the hands of SOE, namely Pertamina.
"Congratulations on the return of the management of the Rokan Block to Indonesia. Congratulations and good luck for the entire team from Pertamina," said President Jokowi in a 1-minute video a day after the process of managing the Rokan Block.
President Jokowi also encouraged the entire Pertamina team and asked to work hard to maintain the sustainability of the Rokan block as a support for national oil production and increase benefits for the region.
"I believe that Pertamina can manage the Rokan Block," added the President.
However, President Jokowi also reminded that the management transfer process is a challenge for Pertamina.
"We are challenged to prove our capabilities. We cannot let the productivity of the Rokan Block decrease even after we manage it ourselves," said President Jokowi.
