President Director of Pertamina: Pertamax Green 95, an Environmentally Friendly Fuel

Jakarta, July 24, 2023 – PT Pertamina (Persero), through its Subholding Commercial & Trading, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, introduced a new vehicle fuel product, Pertamax Green 95. This new product's official launch was simultaneously conducted in Jakarta and Surabaya on Monday, July 24, 2023.

Pertamax Green 95 is an environmentally friendly vehicle fuel that utilizes 5% bioethanol made from renewable raw materials. Pertamina, in synergy with the state-owned enterprises, collaborated with PT Energi Agro Nusantara, a subsidiary of PT Perkebunan Nusantara X (Persero), to provide bioethanol raw materials derived from molasses processed into fuel-grade ethanol.

President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, stated that this new product is a concrete step taken by Pertamina to support the Net Zero Emission (NZE) 2060 target achievement.

"This product is an eco-friendly green vehicle fuel that uses bioethanol derived from molasses. It is one of Pertamina's energy transition pillars implementation, supporting the national energy transition through biofuel blend utilization," said Nicke.

Furthermore, Nicke explained that the Pertamax Green 95 development involved over 9,000 sugarcane farmers. The initial product marketing will be carried out in 10 petrol stations in Surabaya and 5 petrol stations in Jakarta.

"We hope that Pertamina's new product’s presence, Pertamax Green 95, will have a multiplier effect on Indonesia's economy and at the same time, create broad opportunities for market penetration globally for the state-owned enterprise and its products," Nicke added.

VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, expressed his hope that the new product would be well-received by the public, encouraging collective support for the government's NZE 2060 target.

"We invite the public to actively participate in supporting the energy transition and Indonesia's NZE target by using eco-friendly vehicle fuels, such as Pertamax Green 95," explained Fadjar.
