Dumai, July 14, 2024 – To foster and supervise oil and gas safety, the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, represented by the Director of Oil and Gas Engineering and Environment (Dirtekling Migas), Noor Arifin Muhammad, and the Director of Upstream Oil and Gas Business Development, Ariana Soemanto, conducted a field visit to PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (PT KPI) Dumai Unit on Friday (12/7).
The visit, directly received by the Director of Operations of PT KPI, Didik Bahagia, was part of a Management Walkthrough (MWT) to oversee and ensure that oil and gas business activities are safe, reliable, and environmentally friendly. This effort aims to achieve zero fatalities and minimize unplanned shutdowns.
Noor Arifin Muhammad explained that safety is crucial in high-risk oil and gas operations and development activities.
The Dirtekling Migas also emphasized support for all matters related to engineering and the environment in oil and gas business activities development.
“In an industry or company development, there must be balanced development in many aspects. We support whatever can be supported from the government side, especially in terms of engineering and the environment,” he emphasized.
Noor Arifin Muhammad also reminded the importance of wisdom in the system, where oil and gas business players have production concerns while still adhering to safety aspects and administrative requirements.
“By paying attention to these aspects, we can make many wise breakthroughs. Therefore, we hope to collaborate, provide full support, and move forward together,” he said.
Ariana Soemanto, in his speech, emphasized the importance of the oil and gas business from upstream to downstream.
“We appreciate and thank PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan and PT KPI for their role in meeting national oil and gas needs, both upstream and downstream,” he emphasized.
He also conveyed that the government will continue to support efforts to boost national oil and gas production, particularly for Pertamina.
The Director of Operations of PT KPI, Didik Bahagia, expressed appreciation for the supervision and guidance provided to PT KPI in the oil and gas industry.
“Thank you to the Directorate General of Oil and Gas for always providing guidance and supervision to our company. We hope to increase refinery production capacity to make a tangible contribution to maintaining national energy security and reliability,” he emphasized.
On this occasion, Didik Bahagia also presented an overview of PT KPI’s operational units and the progress and commitment regarding new capacity additions at the Pertamina Balikpapan Refinery, which is currently being accelerated in the refinery development project.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that Pertamina, as an integrated oil and gas business operator, maintains refinery performance because these facilities play a significant role in providing finished products for the public, such as Avtur, fuel, and LPG. “The visit from the Directorate General of Oil and Gas shows stakeholder attention to Pertamina. We greatly appreciate this and are mindful of aspects that can be continuously improved to enhance refinery performance,” said Fadjar.
During the visit, in addition to PT KPI, the management teams of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan, and project experts from PT Pertamina (Persero) were also present.
