Pushing the Acceleration of Energy Start-Up Growth in Indonesia, Pertamina Launches XScouts

Jakarta, September 22, 2021 – As the only integrated energy company in Indonesia, PT Pertamina (Persero) is committed to becoming a catalyst for technological innovation development in Indonesia, particularly in clean energy, renewable energy, and petrochemicals.

One manifestation of this commitment is to encourage energy innovation and collaborate with innovators through their start-ups. Therefore their innovations can create added value.

Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development of PT Pertamina (Persero), Iman Rachman, emphasized that open innovation is one of Pertamina's key success factors to accelerate business growth amidst the challenges of the energy transition.

"Pertamina always collaborates and innovates to produce bright ideas. Therefore, it can build national energy security based on clean energy. Our commitment is strong in this regard," explained Iman.

Within the framework of the Open Innovation, added Iman, Pertamina organized the Pertamina XScouts Program as an Open Innovation platform that can be followed by start-ups that have relevant energy innovations.

"Pertamina XScouts is a platform for start-ups to collaborate with Pertamina and jointly develop businesses, especially in the fields of clean energy, renewable energy, and petrochemicals. There are two channels for the XScouts program, namely Partnership and Growth," added Iman.

Iman added that this platform would help increase the transparency and accountability of the Open Innovation process and increase the level of trust for start-ups in Pertamina's commitment to seek, reach, welcome, and synergize value creation.

"In this collaboration, we offer access to market, access to funding, access to expertise, and of course business viability," said Iman.

Registration of participants will be opened after the launch of Pertamina XScouts, which will be packaged in One Day Virtual Talks titled "Shaping the Future of Energy" on September 29, 2021. Pertamina will present speakers from various backgrounds such as start-ups, incubator institutions, venture capital, to representatives from Government.

This event is expected to provide insight that builds interest in innovation-based start-ups and encourage collaboration with Pertamina in the fields of clean energy, renewable energy, and petrochemicals.
