Quick Handling, Pertamina Isolates the T-301 Balongan Tank Area

March 29, 2021 - PT Pertamina (Persero) moved quickly to handle the incident at Tank T-301, located in the Balongan Refinery Area. Since the incident on Monday, March 29, 2021, at 00.45 WIB, the Pertamina Emergency Team has continued to take emergency steps. The team has succeeded in isolating and cooling the area around the flashpoint, thus extinguishing the hotspot.

Senior Vice President of Corporate Communication & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Agus Suprijanto, explained that Pertamina remains focused on handling incidents and has exerted everything in its power with offensive fire handling. Pertamina has also coordinated, both internally within Pertamina and external parties at the central and regional levels such as the police, the local government of Indramayu Regency, BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency), and others.

"The fire has been localized. Therefore, it will not spread to the surrounding area," said Agus.

In handling the fire, the Pertamina Emergency Team located the hotspots in the bundwall or embankments around the T-301 tank. Extinguishing is also done by applying Foam to the Perimeter of the bundwall and the flame center.

Pertamina has also deployed ten fire engines, consisting of the Pertamina Group Fire Truck, namely Pertamina Pusat, Pertamina EP, Pertamina West Java Region, and Politama, as well as related agencies that assist the Cirebon and Indramayu local governments.
