Jakarta, June 1, 2021 – PT Pertamina (Persero), through the MSE Funding Program, helped its foster partners to obtain Intellectual Property Rights (HKI) for Brands. Several reasons make this brand important for MSEs, especially for those who are just starting a business. Brands can be used as a differentiator with other products, promotion media, attractiveness, build a positive image in the eyes of consumers.
As of today, there have been 64 trademark HKI certifications submitted for 64 fostered partners. This effort is to develop them into an upgraded MSEs.
"Brands are important, not just a company name or logo. A brand is an umbrella that represents the products, services, and value that you provide to consumers. Therefore, when consumers think of a product or brand, the brand is immediately remembered by consumers for the first time," said Acting Senior Vice President Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman.
Fostered partners and MSEs must take numerous steps to make this happen. The first is establishing the brand name of the product. This name can contain any number of characters or abbreviations and the product owner's name. However, the choice of name must be easy to remember to facilitate the promotion process.
After that, is making an attractive logo. "The principle of an attractive logo is a simple, deep impression, timeless, and easy to apply," she said. The third stage is paying attention to the visual appearance. Such as the appearance of the packaging, colors, and more.
The third stage is to create a brand tagline. This stage tends to be skipped by MSEs and is often only found in large products. The tagline itself has significant benefits in supporting brand names to make it easier for consumers to remember.
The last stage is to carry out an advertising campaign or continuous promotion through any media. "One of Pertamina's roles at this stage is to help promote MSE products on various channels, both Pertamina's internal media and by making promotions that are distributed to mass media both on a local and national scale," explained Fajriyah.
Pertamina expects that people will accept MSE products with trademark registration that was received easily. Either through direct marketing, or shops, supermarkets, or even capital before it is ready to export its products.
Pertamina supports SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) point 8 achievements by implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) based programs in all of its operational areas. It is part of the environmental and social responsibility to realize economic benefits in the community.**
