Receiving International CSR Award, Proof of Pertamina's Contribution to Indonesia's Community and Environment  

Jakarta, September 18, 2020 - Pertamina Group won the International award of The 12th Global CSR Awards 2020 for various innovative and sustainable CSR programs that contribute to the community and the environment. As we are still in the Covid-19 pandemic, the announcement of this award was made online on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, through a press release on the Global CSR website https://globalcsr.pinnaclegroup.global/2020/press-release/.

"The Global CSR Awards is one of the prestigious international CSR awards with an assessment of companies with innovative CSR programs. This award motivates Pertamina Group to innovate in various CSR programs continuously. Therefore, it has a broad impact on the community, especially around operational areas throughout Indonesia," said Fajriyah.

Pertamina added Fajriyah, received five awards simultaneously for various categories that support the achievement of the SDGs (Sustainability Development Goals) target for Quality Education, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Maintaining Land Ecosystems. In the Best Environmental Excellence Award Category, Pertamina was awarded the Gold award through the Community-Based Waste Management Program through a Waste Bank implemented in various locations. One of the best practices of this program is the WIRALODRA (Community Area for Managing Waste Recycling), which was initiated by Pertamina RU VI Balongan.

"This program has succeeded in realizing a waste-free village and improving people's welfare through the use of organic and inorganic waste into various products that have added value," added Fajriyah.

According to Fajriyah, Pertamina also received two Gold awards for Excellence in Provision for Literacy & Education Award. One of the programs that received the award is the Boundary School Program for Equitable Education in Disadvantaged Areas, an innovation of Pertamina EP Asset 5 Tarakan Field. Through this program, the nation's children located on the border of Indonesia - Malaysia in North Kalimantan can get access to proper education and have experienced improvements from their previous conditions.

Another program that has received a similar award is the Empowerment Program for Minority Groups through Education for the Contribution of SDGs obtained through two excellent programs. The two flagship programs are the initiation of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi together with its subsidiaries, namely through the Jambi Merang PHE for an innovative program of educational activities for the Indigenous Peoples of the Tribal Minority (SAD), and through JOB Pertamina - Medco E&P Tomori Sulawesi, namely the Siboli Empowerment House Program.

Two other awards are Silver for the Best Community Program Award Category through the Farmers Empowerment Center Program (SPT) developed by Pertamina (Persero). Along with the Bronze award for the Best Community Program Award Category run by PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, namely the Community-Based Ecotourism Program.

The award ceremony is planned to take place in March 2021 in Hanoi, Vietnam. It is hoped that next year the Covid-19 pandemic will subside to carry out awarding activities offline.
