Jakarta, May 5, 2021 - PT Pertamina (Persero) continues to strengthen corporate governance by ensuring that the implementation of ISO 37001: 2016 Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP) runs well in all company operations. This step is the company's effort to improve the implementation of Good Corporate Governance and prevent corruption in the company.
This effort has received recognition and a certificate from PT SGS Indonesia as a certification body after completing the external audit at the end of March 2021. Previously in 2019, the implementation of SMAP had started in the scope of the Procurement Function and the Upstream Directorate. It had successfully obtained a certificate from the certification body in March and August 2020.
Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, explained that the implementation of the SMAP is the company's support for the Government's policy to prevent corruption in Indonesia. It is following the Presidential Instruction No. 10 of 2016 concerning Action to Prevent, Eradicate Corruption and Presidential Decree No. 54 of 2018 concerning the National Strategy for Prevention of Corruption, as well as several letters from the Ministry of SOE in 2019 and 2020 as the implementer of the Presidential Instruction and Presidential Decree. Pertamina has been appointed as one of the pilot projects to implement the ISO 37001: 2016-based Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP).
"With ISO 37001 certification, we hope that stakeholder trust will increase because the company has implemented an anti-corruption program in accordance with internationally recognized standards. This certainly supports the company's vision of becoming a World Class Energy Company," she said.
At the event, the President Director of PT SGS Indonesia, Shashibhushan Jogani explained, the ongoing development and the implementation of certified Anti-Bribery Management system in Indonesia is an important factor to improve the performance of Indonesian companies and to strengthen the image of the organizations internationally.
“ISO 37001 SMAP set out requirements and provides guidance for a management system designed to help an organization to prevent, detect and respond to bribery and comply with anti-bribery laws and voluntary commitments applicable to its activities.
Fajriyah added that the implementation of SMAP is an effort to strengthen clean and transparent business governance in line with the demands of Environment Social Governance (ESG) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 16: effective, transparent, and accountable governance.
