Republic of Indonesia State Palace Utilizes Natural Gas Clean Energy of Pertamina Gas Subholding

Jakarta, March 10, 2022 – PT Pertamina (Persero), through PT PGN Tbk as a Gas Subholding, is committed to expanding the utilization of natural gas as safe and environmentally friendly energy in various sectors. After serving natural gas needs at the Canteen of the Ministry of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia last year, on Wednesday (09/03/2022), the first distribution of gas (Gas In) was carried out to the State Palace Kitchen.

"Alhamdulillah, the process can run smoothly. Thus, natural gas can be useful for the State Palace environment. We hope that this will be sustainable in the future. It will also serve as an example to the people, as even the palace believes that natural gas is a safe, environmentally friendly, and convenient energy," said Area Head of PGN Jakarta, Sheila Merlianty.

Head of the General Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Erry Hermawan, said that natural gas usage in the state palace could be an example that the palace also uses clean, environmentally friendly, safe, available 24 hours, and competitive energy.

“Currently, it is only the initial installation for cooking energy in the kitchen. We look forward to the maintenance and support of VVIP activities when energy is needed to cook in the palace kitchen. The Presidential Palace kitchen will utilize natural gas with a volume of 50-1,000 M3," said Erry.

"We are grateful to PGN for fulfilling our request to install gas at the State Palace in Jakarta, and it has reached the maximum target. We plan to use natural gas not only for kitchen needs. But also for heating or washing clothes on a large scale with heat technology, such as services at the Bogor State Palace. That is what we expect," added Erry.

Sheila added that in case of problems or emergencies, PGN has a contact center that is on standby 24 hours. PGN Jakarta Area has supplied 268 industrial and commercial customers, including malls, hotels, and restaurants. Moreover, it serves 138 small customers and ± 15,332 household customers.

Sheila expects that as the natural gas infrastructure in the DKI Jakarta area develops, so will natural gas users. “We are also carrying out assignments from the government to develop natural gas for the community. The added value of natural gas is that it is safer, more comfortable, and environmentally friendly. We hope that people can see it from this side. Therefore more people are interested in using natural gas,” concluded Sheila.**
