Reviewing the Progress of Bali International Hospital Development, Minister of SOEs: Indonesia is Ready to Compete in Global Health Tourism

Jakarta, May 14, 2024 – The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Erick Thohir, visited the Bali International Hospital (BIH), which is currently constructed by PT Pertamina Bina Medika - Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC), to ensure the BIH development progress. The hospital is expected to become a world-class health destination. (12/5)

"The BIH development is a commitment to realizing President Joko Widodo's vision of making Indonesia a global health tourism destination. BIH is expected to become a leading hospital in Indonesia and to attract international patients to seek treatment in Indonesia," Erick Thohir stated.

During his visit, Minister Erick, accompanied by the President Director of IHC, Drg. Mira Dyah Wahyuni, MARS, and the management team of PT Pertamedika Bali Hospital carefully reviewed the progress of various areas, including the emergency department, radiotherapy areas such as Linac and Brachytherapy, and the radiology area equipped with modern medical equipment like DR X-ray, CT scan, MRI 3 Tesla, and 1.5 Tesla.

Minister Erick added that the visit was to oversee BIH's progress aligned with the planned targets.

"This is a significant step in developing Indonesia's healthcare infrastructure. Therefore, we must commit to providing the best healthcare services and to strengthen Indonesia's image as a global health tourism destination," Erick added.

Similar to the Minister of SOEs, the President Director of IHC, Drg. Mira, stated that BIH's development is to improve the healthcare services quality in Indonesia. As the holding company of state-owned hospitals, IHC will continue to strive to make BIH a hospital with international service standards.

"BIH is committed to providing excellent and high-quality services in Cardiology, Oncology, Neurology, gastroenterology, and Orthopedics (CONGO)," Drg. Mira stated.

Separately, the VP of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, expressed Pertamina's full support for the development of Bali International Hospital.

"International standard services, including hospital services, require professionalism and qualified medical personnel that significantly determine user satisfaction, supported by modern and comprehensive health facilities. Furthermore, Bali International Hospital will set an example and stimulate the growth of other international standard hospitals," Fadjar said.

BIH, the flagship hospital under IHC, is located in the Sanur Health Special Economic Zone (KEK), Bali. The hospital spans 50,000 square meters and consists of four floors. BIH offers both advanced medical facilities and incorporates environmentally friendly aspects with green areas and gardens as part of medical therapy for patients.

Scheduled to be completed by September 2024, BIH will provide high-quality healthcare services to Indonesians without the need to go abroad. As Bali's newest health destination, BIH is expected to pioneer Indonesia's emergence on the international stage in the health tourism industry.
