Jakarta, September 11, 2020 – Pertamina SMEXPO 2020 once again inspired Indonesian MSMEs to have global knowledge so they can be successful in the international market. Through MSMEs Coaching Session, which is one of the exciting events that enliven the Pertamina SMEXPO 2020, Bawadi Coffee, Pertamina's fostered MSME, shares their story on how they market their products internationally.

Bawadi Coffee is engaged in the coffee industry, which offers Single Origin Aceh Coffee products. Bawadi Coffee is committed to raising the potential of Aceh coffee and developing Aceh coffee throughout the world. Teuku Dharul Bawadi, Owner of Bawadi Coffee, stated that when he started his business, he immediately went into the international scene.

"I immediately exported to Malaysia. If I focus on selling in my own area, then I will lose to other competitors. That is why I looked at the international market," he said.

Teuku felt helped after becoming Pertamina's fostered partner in 2019. Bawadi Coffee was included in a competition and won second place in the local hero award. Bawadi Coffee was also given the opportunity by Pertamina to take part in an international expo in China so that it received an export contract worth IDR 1.2 billion.

"Thank you to Pertamina for holding the SMEXPO exhibition. I invite all UMKM players to visit SMEXPO 2020 because it is very easy and safe to shop. The products are also superior and selected," he added.

Digital Marketing Strategy

In the MSMEs Coaching with the theme "Think Local, Act Global," Pertamina presented a well-known Digital Consultant, Jonathan End. He explained the importance of using technology, including social media, in marketing MSMEs products in the millennial era.

"Indonesia has 272 million people, 64% of whom use the internet with an average of 8 hours using the internet. In it, 59% used social media for an average of 3 hours. So it is very important for MSMEs to use social media, "said Jonathan.

Jonathan encourages MSMEs to learn how to use social media appropriately to attract buyers, both from within the country and abroad. He also said that MSMEs do not have to be confused because product marketing can be started from e-commerce.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina said Pertamina SMEXPO 2020 is an important event for MSMEs players to share experiences and simultaneously promote their top products so that they have a wide market abroad.

"Pertamina continues to encourage MSMEs players to survive the challenges of Covid-19 pandemic and can advance by utilizing digital technology that is trending," said Fajriyah.
