Showing Sustainability Commitment, Pertamina Achieves 2022 Sustainability Business Award

Jakarta, June 7, 2022 - Pertamina's strong commitment to sustainability in becoming an environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and has good corporate governance has received recognition from international institutions. Pertamina has won several awards from Global Initiatives at the 9th Indonesia Sustainability Business Awards on Thursday, June 2, 2022.

PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan, managed to received the Indonesian Sustainability Business Awards (SBA) in the Highly Commended category. This award is given to companies with strong sustainability commitment, and demonstrate consistent efforts in various sustainability areas and have a good roadmap.

Acting Vice President Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Heppy Wulansari, said Pertamina ensures ESG policies implementation, translated into 10 Sustainability Focuses.

"We put climate change as our priority in empowering all aspects. And in the social aspect, SSE is one of our comparisons which also involves our partners," said Heppy. 

Heppy added that Pertamina's commitment to sustainability has been disclosed every year in its sustainability report since 2011. "We strive to produce long-term positive impacts for the planet and people's benefit," she said.

On the same occasion, President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR), Jaffee Suardin, said that PHR also ensures that every program implemented follows the sustainable development goals.

"This is our commitment to maintaining a sustainable business by emphasizing the natural environment preservation, the perfection of social and economic development. We hope that our program can bring benefits and positive differences to the environment and society in this country," said Jaffee.

SBA Indonesia is organized by Global Initiatives, a company with concerned about sustainability based in Singapore, with local partners PwC Indonesia, the Indonesian Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD), Control Union, and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). SBA is held in several other countries besides Indonesia, such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, The Philippines, and Thailand.

Pertamina received the Appreciation from 2016 to 2019 in a row. Pertamina received two categories in SBA 2016,  Best Flagship Initiative and Best Stated-Owned Enterprise. In 2017, Pertamina received the Best Stated-Owned Enterprise, 2018 received Best Energy Management SBA, Special Recognition on Stakeholder Engagement and Materiality, and Special Recognition for UN Sustainable Development Goals SBA. At the 2019 SBA, Pertamina received Recognition for The Submission. In addition, one of Pertamina's affiliates, Pertamina Hulu Rokan, also received the "Highly Commended" award.**
