November 9, 2021 - Long queues of motorized vehicle users at several Petrol Stations made Commission II of the Sorong City DPRD intervene to carry out sudden inspections (Sidak) to several petrol stations and Pertamina Sorong Fuel Terminal. This inspection seeks to monitor the distribution and service of refueling carried out by motorized vehicle drivers.
A member of Commission II of the Sorong City DPRD, Syafruddin Sabonama, explained that the people of Sorong City had been consumed by fake news about the scarcity of fuel. The data shows that fuel stock in petrol stations is sufficient. Commission II of the Sorong City DPRD inspected the Hangseng petrol station, Sorpus petrol station, and Pertamina Sorong Fuel Terminal to ensure fuel availability.
"Long queues of motorized vehicles at several petrol stations in Sorong are because residents have been engulfed in false information about the scarcity of fuel. We had checked this at the petrol station. From the explanations of the petrol stations we visited, the Coco gas station in Sorpus has 13 tons of Premium stock and at night received another 10 tons," explained Syafruddin Sabonama, Monday (8/11).
From this incident, said Syafruddin Sabonama, explanations can be drawn. Namely that the people of the City are still unstable because they are very easily provoked.
"From this queuing incident, we can see two things. People of Sorong City can still be said to be unstable. Secondly, the people of Sorong City only take information without wanting to cross-check. Finally, everyone becomes talkative and joins the queue," said Syafruddin Sabonama.
Syafruddin said that based on records of daily routine sales at the Coco gas station in Sorpus of 30 KL, there are 5 to 7 KL remaining to be sold the next day. The next day, the additional stock is sent from Pertamina Sorong Fuel Terminal, while the Hanseng gas station has stock 10 tons and will receive another 10 tons.
Syafruddin Sabonama also mentioned that there were indications of irresponsible speculators that took advantage of residents' panic. Therefore, they acted fraudulently by collecting fuel and then selling it at a much higher price. After coordinating with the police, the Sorong City Police Chief, AKBP Ary Nyoto Setiawan, will take firm action against the perpetrators of hoarding fuel and selling it at different prices.
Area Communication, Relations & CSR Pertamina Patra Niaga Region Papua Maluku Edi Mangun said, "I hope the Sorong residents will no longer be deceived. If fuel is rare, why are all petrol stations still open and selling? None of the petrol stations is closed?".**
