Cilacap, September 9, 2021 – PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Cilacap Unit immediately working on implementing the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal to increase the company’s efficiency. It was stated by the President Director of PT KPI, Djoko Priyono in a visit from the directors of Pertamina (Persero) and PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) at the Patra Graha Cilacap building, on Thursday (2/9/2021).
Djoko said that the Cilacap unit as the largest and most strategic refinery must always be profitable, achieved by efficiency through regasification. “The use of refinery fuel is still quite large compared to crude oil. It can be streamlined by switching to gas because it is obviously cheaper and cleaner,” he said.
Djoko added that to implement the plan, Pertamina has agreed with PGN as a supplier of gas needs. “This idea has actually been around for a long time, from around 2018. The agreement that has been established with PGN will soon be implemented and targeted in 2023 on stream,” he said.
Apart from being a refinery fuel, gas will also be used to treat units in need. “Because Cilacap does not have a gas source, it has relied on oil and gas fuel from refineries in its process so far. Later, fuel oil can be converted to fuel and becoming more valuable products,” he added.
The President Director of PT PGN, M. Haryo Yunianto, said his party is ready to provide the best service for mutual benefit. “As a supplier of gas needs, PGN is certainly committed to satisfying consumers, in this case, Pertamina. It is hoped that this program will soon be followed by other refinery units throughout Indonesia,” he said.
The event was also attended by the Director of Integrated Logistics & Infrastructure of PT Pertamina (Persero), Mulyono, General Manager of PT KPI Cilacap Unit, Eko Sunarno, and the management. After the presentation at the Patra Graha building, the visit was continued to the refinery area and jetty area 70.
