Jakarta, April 22, 2022 – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) continues to arrest the perpetrators of subsidized fuel misuse across various parts of Indonesia. PT Pertamina appreciates the steps taken by the National Police to distribute on-target energy.
Throughout 2022, the National Police succeeded in securing 38 cases of subsidized fuel misuse, especially the type of subsidized diesel across the northern Sumatra, southern Sumatra, western Java, Central Java, Jatimbalinus, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Maluku-Papua. Fajriyah Usman, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, said the steps taken by the National Police to save the underprivileged rights to obtain subsidized fuel.
"Thanks to the Police for taking action against the perpetrators of subsidized fuel misuse. It is to save the underprivileged rights to get subsidized fuel so that the fuel distribution can be right on target,” Fajriyah said.
Fajriyah said that the Police continued to carry out surveillance throughout the region to ensure that subsidized fuel was used properly for the rightful one. Therefore, any subsidized fuel misuse is a criminal act against the law and the perpetrators will face law enforcement officers.
“The APBN for subsidized fuel must be controlled. Therefore, it is not distorted. Pertamina appreciates the Police, who continue to eradicate every form of fraud," Fajriyah said.
Fajriyah said that according to information gathered from the National Police, the perpetrators of subsidized fuel misuse were carried out in various modes. These include repeated refilling by sledding cars or trucks with modified tanks, purchases with jerry cans by retailers, purchases by mining trucks or unloaded excavations, purchases by oil palm trucks, and diesel fuel purchases through third parties.
The high disparity between the subsidized diesel price, sold for IDR 5,150 per liter, and non-subsidized (industrial) diesel, which is sold according to economic prices, is suspected to be the trigger for the various modes of abuse. Close supervision and coordination with the Police continue.
"Pertamina will continue to synergize with the National Police to oversee the subsidized fuel distribution so irresponsible people will not misuse. Strict action will be taken against anyone who commits fraud," Fajriyah said.
In addition to coordinating with the apparatus, Pertamina also implemented the digitization of petrol stations to monitor the subsidized fuel distribution and installed CCTV in all petrol stations.
If the public finds indications of subsidized fuel and LPG abuse or misuse in the field, immediately report to the nearest police station or inform the Pertamina call center at 135.**
