Jakarta, May 9, 2024 - The CSR program of PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Balikpapan Unit once again received the Indonesian Social Sustainability Forum (ISSF) award from the Ministry of Rural Development and Transmigration (PDTT). The award was presented directly by the Minister of Rural Development and Transmigration, Halim Iskandar, at the Westin Jakarta Hotel on Tuesday (07/05).
The event was also attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma'ruf Amin. In his speech, Ma’ruf Amin emphasized the importance of private companies and state-owned enterprises (SOE) in accelerating the advancement of rural economies.
“Continue the commitment of SOEs, private companies, village-owned enterprises, and all local stakeholders in CSR programs. Additionally, it is necessary to ensure that CSR recipients are targeted accurately to drive inclusive and environmentally friendly development,” said Ma'ruf Amin.
PT KPI Balikpapan Unit, through its Rain Water Harvesting and Urban Farming (Rawabening) Program, received the Silver category in this event. Rawabening contributes to the green open spaces development, particularly in the Kampung Atas Air area in the Margasari District, Balikpapan City.
Separately, the Area Manager of Communication, Relations & CSR of PT KPI Balikpapan Unit, Dodi Yapsenang, expressed that the award is dedicated to all parties involved in achieving this recognition.
“We would not have received this award without local actors and community groups involvement who continue to develop their capacities. This opportunity hopefully can motivate more innovations to strengthen community empowerment through CSR program implementation,” said Dodi.
The Rawabening program, which empowers communities by utilizing rainwater catchment for urban agriculture, is unique and selected. Since its inception at the end of 2022, the program has continued to evolve with the processing of derivative products from the produced vegetables. It adds new economic potential within the Kampung Atas Air community.
For information, the Indonesian Social Sustainability Forum (ISSF) is an organization composed of representatives from various institutions, including companies and other entities. The forum focuses on the sustainability of all social aspects, both internal and external, to the institution to achieve sustainability in all aspects of life.
“This award also encourages the management and all PT KPI Balikpapan Unit officers to continue contributing to the community. We continue to strive to provide the greatest and widest possible positive impact for the community and the environment, especially those in the company's operational areas,” concluded Dodi.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that as a state-owned enterprise, Pertamina supports village-based development that positively impactsd communities.
"Pertamina has implemented village-based TJSL programs such as Desa Energi Berdikari, Pertamina Villages or Adopted Villages, and others, to build more advanced and prosperous rural communities," said Fadjar.**
