Balongan, December 31, 2021 - As a refinery that has a strategic role in fulfilling domestic energy needs, especially for the Capital City, West Java, and Banten areas, the implementation of various projects are now being accelerated to support domestic energy independence.
In addition to the Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) or refinery development project, another project that is currently being worked on at the Balongan Refinery is the Revitalization of the RCC Unit (Residue Catalytic Cracking). To support the smooth running of the RCC Revitalization, a New Jetty or a new pier was also built at the Balongan Refinery that functions as a mooring facility for ships carrying large-sized equipment for the refinery needs.
The construction of the New Jetty of the Balongan Refinery itself took 7 months, and the initial structure of the construction of the New Jetty was carried out on April 9, 2021. The New Jetty of the Balongan Refinery has just been inaugurated by the Senior Project Manager of RCC Revitalization RU VI Balongan Sugeng Firmanto, together with RCC Revitalization Construction Manager Muhammad Ramdhan, Wednesday (29/12).
Separately, the General Manager of the Balongan Project, Nugroho said, "Alhamdulillah, the process of building the New Jetty to support this revitalization went safely and smoothly thanks to the support and prayers from various internal and external parties".
In its first use, the New Jetty at the end of November was utilized as a means of unloading the Preflash Column for the RDMP project. Then, on December 30, 2021, it is scheduled that other large materials will also arrive via the New Jetty, namely the Orifice Chamber, and continued with the unloading of the reactor which is the core of the RCC Revitalization project in early January 2022, said Nugroho.
Meanwhile, Senior Project Manager for RCC Revitalization RU VI Balongan, Sugeng Firmanto, said that the New Jetty was built with the goal that the RCC Revitalization process could run smoothly without disturbing the existing Jetty at the Balongan Refinery, which is quite busy with its usage schedule.
The RDMP and RCC Revitalization are strategic projects carried out at the Balongan Refinery and absorb a lot of local workers in their implementation. With the completion of the construction of this new jetty, the Balongan Refinery now has two jetties, namely the Propylene Jetty which functions as a means to load Propylene, LPG, and Avtur, and the New Jetty as a means to support the RCC Revitalization project.
Later, the products produced from this RCC unit are products with high economic value such as LPG, Propylene, Polygasoline (Mogas with RON 98), Naptha High Octane (Blending Component Pertamax), Light Cycle Oil (LCO), and Decant Oil (DCO).
