Dumai, July 18, 2020 – D-100 excellence as Indonesia's first fuel made from 100% vegetable material is no longer a dream. D-100 that is produced by Pertamina, has high Cetane Number, which is up to 79. Therefore it is believed to generates better vehicle performance as a mixed fuel.
It had also been proven by the performance test result (road test), which shows that the use of D-100 in a vehicle fuel mixture can improve vehicle performance and reduce exhaust emissions.
Deputy CEO of PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPO), Budi Santoso Syarif explained, during the performance test, the fuel used was a mixture of 20% D-100, 50% Dexlite, and 30% FAME.
"According to our lab test results, it is measured that the Cetane Number of the D-100 fuel mixture in Dexlite and FAME used reaches a minimum of 60 or higher than the diesel fuel currently available. Likewise, vehicle emission test results show that the Opacity dropped to 1.7% from 2.6% when it was not mixed with D-100," he said.
The Performance Test was conducted on July 14, 2020, for 200 km using a diesel-powered 2017 MPV. Along with the good quantitative test results, vehicle users also feel comfortable while using their vehicles. It is because there is no excessive noise during driving, engine pull is more powerful, and exhaust fumes remain clean even at high RPM. With better performance, it will be more efficient in terms of fuel use and engine maintenance.
Budi added, the results of this good performance test also proved that the D-100 that was produced first at the Dumai Pertamina Refinery could answer the needs of green energy in Indonesia. It is because D-100 is made from 100% vegetable material derived from CPO or palm oil, which is widely available in Indonesia. Thus, it is in line with President Joko Widodo's direction, that is, Indonesia can optimize its natural resources to create its own energy security.
"D-100 is the first in Indonesia, and only a few companies can do it. We proved that Pertamina succeeded at the Dumai Refinery, with the assistance of the Merah Putih Catalyst, which is a collaboration of the Research & Technology Center Pertamina and the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). It is an honor for us to be able to create solutions for Indonesia," he added. **
