Jakarta, March 30, 2021 – The efforts of PT Pertamina (Persero) in handling the T-301 Tank incident at the Pertamina Refinery Area in Balongan received full support from Pertamina's Board of Commissioners. It was showed by the visit of the President Commissioner of Pertamina Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and Commissioner Condro Kirono to the location shortly after the incident.
While visiting the Balongan Refinery, both Board of Commissioners of Pertamina were accompanied by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Refining & Petrochemical Subholding of Pertamina, Djoko Priyono on Monday, March 29, 2021.
The President Commissioner of Pertamina, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama expressed his appreciation to the Pertamina Team of how they have handled the incident, both in handling the fire and the affected residents.
“I appreciate the steps taken by Pertamina to handle the incident and its impact on public,” said Basuki.
In addition, the Board of Commissioners also directed to carry out a comprehensive evaluation of the incident. Therefore, it will not happen again in the future.
After monitoring the incident handling efforts, Pertamina’s Board of Commissioners continued to the main facility of the refinery to ensure that the Balongan refinery was in safe condition because the tank incident is relatively far from the refinery.
CEO of Refining & Petrochemical Subholding of Pertamina, Djoko Priyono presented an update regarding the handling of the incident and affected residents. At the time of the visit, Pertamina has succeeded in isolating the fire so that it will not spread to other tanks.
“Since the incident, the burning tank was sprayed using foam and fire was successfully localized by the bundwall around the T-301 tank,” stated Djoko.
For the affected residents, Djoko assured the Board of Commissioners that Pertamina will give its full effort by preparing a convinient place for the residents to temporarily evacuate.**
