March 21, 2022 – The Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia MotoGP race event in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has been finished. President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati, appreciates all parties who have made the biggest motorcycle racing event in the world successful.
Even though it was held in rainy conditions, the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2022 was carried out smoothly at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, NTB, Sunday (20/3/2022). Miguel Oliveira from Red Bull KTM came out as the winner, followed by Monster Energy Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo in second and Pramac Racing Ducati's Johann Zarco in the third place.
This event was attended directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). He appreciated all parties involved in the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia implementation.
"I would like to express my deepest gratitude, especially to the people of NTB, the people of Lombok who have given full support, and all parties, both organizers and all workers who prepared this activity day and night," said President Jokowi.
President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, also appreciated the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP implementation which was going well. Moreover, the community’s enthusiasm was high in this racing event, despite the heavy rain before the match took place.
"Thank you to all those who helped with this grand event. Indeed, we feel proud and ecstatic to be involved in this well-run and successful event, even though the race was in rainy weather," said Nicke.
Nicke said the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia event would certainly impact economic revival, especially for the NTB region. One of them is the revival of MSME business activists.
"This event opens up opportunities for MSME players in NTB to market their products to the world. It also impacted the revival of our economy," said Nicke.
Nicke said that Pertamina had prepared its fostered MSMEs to attend the Mandalika MotoGP event for three months. Pertamina also has curated and selected as many as 50 MSMEs to provide the visitors' needs to the Mandalika MotoGP, especially various foods and beverages.
"Our MSMEs provide a variety of ready-to-eat foods and drinks. Not only that, but there are also various local products such as coffee, honey, handicrafts, and Lombok souvenirs, such as pearls. This is a momentum for MSMEs in NTB to rise and go global," said Nick.
To note, Pertamina is the main sponsor of the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP, both in naming the circuit, namely the 'Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit' and in the event implementation, namely the 'Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia'. Pertamina's involvement is carried out to support President Joko Widodo's Instructions on 5 Super Priority Tourism Destinations development.**
