The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif, said that Pertamina had taken quick action to locate the hotspots in the bundwall around the T-301 tank at the outset of the incident. Therefore, the fire did not spread. The bottom of the bundwall is still being cooled to lowered temperature while the fire is now extinguished.
According to Arifin Tasrif, Pertamina is conducting an investigation involving internal and external parties regarding the incident's causes. The investigation is still in progress and requires further investigations.
"Pertamina will conduct an evaluation to identify what is needed to improve the safety system of its refineries, referring to the new technology currently in use," said Arifin.
Regarding the affected residents, he continued, Arifin believed that Pertamina would handle the community well.
"We hope that the victims who are still being treated can get better and move out from the intensive care unit soon. For all communities affected by this incident, Pertamina is committed to being responsible by repairing houses and properties of residents, caring for injured victims, and trauma healing," said Arifin.
In addition, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources reminded Pertamina to install a communication system with the community immediately. If there are indications of possible danger, the surrounding community can make early preparations for safety.

According to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, fuel supply is sufficient.
