Jakarta, May 27, 2024 - Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan and Pertamina Patra Niaga, Pertamina Commercial & Trading Sub-holding, are committed to supervising LPG cylinder filling. It is done to ensure that the community needs are fulfilled following inspections at the LPG Filling Station (SPBE).
“In this first stage, we want to ensure order so consumers and the public are not disadvantaged. Yesterday it was gasoline, today it is gas. Thank you to Pertamina,” said Zulkifli at SPBE Koja, North Jakarta, on Monday (27/5/2024).
Furthermore, Zulkifli hopes that Pertamina will continue to carry out supervision. He also emphasized that the regents are given the authority over the 3 kg LPG cylinders distribution, with this responsibility falling to the Regents and Regional Governments. "But if it does not work, we will step in. Therefore, we will check almost all provinces in Indonesia that have SPBE," said Zulkifli.
During the visit, Zulkifli noted deficiencies in several cylinders found during the LPG filling process at SPBE. He mentioned that there was residue or leftover gas in the LPG cylinders, which affected the amount of gas filled into the cylinders.
Zulkifli stated that several SPBEs have already been given administrative sanctions by Pertamina Patra Niaga. As a result, it is expected that the LPG cylinder filling would be accurate.
“Currently, the sanctions are administrative. If they continue to ignore warnings, we will revoke their licenses. If we were to criminalize everyone, it would be difficult, and people would have trouble buying the gas. First, we need to ensure order,” said Zulkifli.
On the same occasion, President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Riva Siahaan, who accompanied Zulkifli at SPBE, said that his party would cooperate with the Ministry of Trade and local governments to supervise SPBE in filling LPG cylinders.
“We, from Pertamina Patra Niaga, as the Sub-holding tasked with distribution and supervision, will continue to work with the Ministry of Trade and local governments to carry out supervision,” said Riva.
Riva continued that his party would also coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies (K/L) to find the best solution for providing LPG to the public.
“Regarding the matters mentioned by the minister, we will support and implement them to the fullest. We will also coordinate with related ministries to provide the best solutions for serving the community,” he added.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement.
