Jakarta, January 3, 2022 – PT Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI) continuously completed the Aromatic Revamping Project. It has previously completed the construction of five tanks, which was inaugurated by the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati, on December 20, 2021.
TPPI has completed the Final Investment Decision (FID) on December 28, 2021. Therefore, the EPC ISBL Aromatic Revamping Project will continue to increase Paraxylene production capacity from 600 thousand to 780 thousand tons annually and increase Platforming capacity from 50 KBD to 55 KBD.
The ISBL Aromatic Revamping Project will include modifications to the Heater, CCR Unit, and Distal Column Tray. It also includes the replacement of the Parex Adsorbent Unit with a new type and the Isomar and Tatoray Catalyst Units replacement.
"The Aromatic Revamping Project, which will cost a total of USD 200 million for the entire OSBL and ISBL, is one of the national strategic projects that have the potential to save Current Account Deficit (CAD) of up to USD 410 million / year," explained the President Director of PT Kilang Pertamina International, Djoko Priyono, at the inauguration of the Aromatic Revamping Project OSBL on December 20, 2021.
Starting in 2023, TPPI can cover the shortage of domestic Aromatic products supply, which has been dominated by imported products. It is in line with the directives of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, which proclaimed the development of TPPI as part of the integrated petrochemical industry. TPPI, under the auspices of PT Pertamina (Persero) through PT Refinery Pertamina Internasional, continues to move to respond to the President's directive.
This project is also triggered by the high demand for petrochemical products in the next 10 years, where petrochemical products are projected to increase by 5 percent annually. Demand for petrochemicals such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), and paraxylene (PX), and benzene (Bz) will increase to 7.6 million tons per year, while the current petrochemical production capacity only reaches 1.6 million tons per year.
This Aromatic Revamping Project will further strengthen TPPI's role as the largest producer of Aromatic products in Indonesia. It is also a step towards realizing its vision as a World Class Petrochemical and Energy Company.**
