Bojonegoro, July 28, 2022 – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Arifin Tasrif, visited the Jambaran-Tiung Biru (JTB) gas field development project, which is preparing to enter the gas-in process in Bandungrejo Village, Ngasem, Bojonegoro, East Java, Thursday (28/07). The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources' arrival is an encouragement to the team accelerating the completion of the JTB project this time.
During this visit, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources was accompanied by Director General of Oil and Gas Tutuka Ariadji, Head of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) Dwi Soetjipto, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati, and President Director of Pertamina Upstream Subholding, Budiman Parhusip. During this visit, Arifin Tasrif received an explanation regarding the project, at which time in the future will enter the production phase. For this reason, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources expects the JTB team to have more spirit in completing this work.
It was the second visit during the pandemic. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources saw firsthand the JTB construction, a National Strategic Project (PSN) from the energy sector. Previously, in April 2021, when the second wave of the pandemic experienced an increase, Arifin Tasrif also took the time to check the JTB progress directly.
President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati, while accompanying the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources's work visit, emphasized she was optimistic that the Gas on Stream (GoS) plan for this project could be realized in a few moments.
"Now, we need to wait for the gas-in preparation and proceed with commissioning start-up. Gas-in is the flow of gas from the well source to the Gas Processing Facilities (GPF) to be processed before entering the on-stream stage," explained Nicke.
Nicke added that the world oil and gas prices are in a high trend today, and of course, oil and gas production will provide a large income for the country. "After entering gas production later, JTB gas will provide an increase in national gas production, and gas prices that are currently high as today certainly make a big contribution to state revenue," she explained.
During the visit, the group was welcomed by the President Director of PT Pertamina EP Cepu (PEPC), Awang Lazuardi, and Acting. General Manager of Gas Project JTB, Ruby Mulyawan, with PEPC management.
Before seeing the production facilities at GPF directly, the group received an explanation from PEPC management regarding gas-in preparation as well as several technical aspects related to the JTB project completion, including the HSSE aspect, which currently has reached 56 million safety hours.
The JTB project is a PSN with a Capital expenditure (Capex) of USD 1.5 billion, which is projected to become one of the largest gas producers in Indonesia, with gas sales production reaching 192 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD). From this amount, 100 MMSCFD has been prepared to fulfill the gas needs of PT PLN's power plant.
The gas supply from JTB is expected to be immediately utilized to fulfill electricity, industry, especially fertilizers, as well as other industries' needs such as ceramics and petrochemicals in several areas in East Java and Central Java through the Gresik-Semarang gas pipeline transportation.**
