May 21, 2024 – During the 10th International World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali, Pertamina Group showcased a range of efforts to maintain clean water sustainability. Pertamina also supports Indonesia, the host of this international event.
The World Water Forum is the largest international meeting in the water sector. Involving representatives from many countries, this triennial forum is a platform for collaboration, discussion, and long-term advancements in addressing global water challenges.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), revealed that Pertamina has a vision to reduce water consumption and minimize waste content to preserve water conservation. The WWF forum is a valuable moment for Pertamina to share with various parties the steps the company has taken, seek current solutions and innovations, and strengthen the company's commitment to water conservation.
"Pertamina's direct participation in this event proves that its role in maintaining water quality and conservation aligns with global programs," he explained.
Pertamina's subholdings also played a part. Such as sub-holding Integrated Marine Logistics implementing maritime programs such as marine ecosystem protection, groundwater conservation, maritime literacy under the banner "BerSEAnergi untuk Laut" (Collaborating for the Sea), and marine animal conservation.
Meanwhile, the Refinery and Petrochemical subholding has a wastewater quality monitoring system to ensure good water management for the environment.
Furthermore, the New and Renewable Energy subholding runs the Reksa Embung program as a community-based environmental management effort alongside a clean water conservation program.
The Upstream subholding has an environmental quality improvement program using the Rig to Reef method on offshore oil platforms. This program transforms offshore oil platforms into artificial reefs, restoring fish habitats and benefiting the marine ecosystem.
PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk Gas sub-holding shares similar concerns by building clean water facilities for the Ujungpangkah District community in Gresik, East Java. This program supports the government's efforts to access clean water and create a proper and healthy sanitation environment.
Furthermore, the Commercial & Trading subholding, Pertamina Patra Niaga, provided maximum support for the smooth organization of the event by ensuring energy readiness for WWF participants' needs.
In addition to providing aviation fuel (avtur), Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jatimbalinus prioritized fuel and LPG services to meet the demands of the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) held this year in Bali.
Pertamina also supports the health sector, with PT Pertamina Bina Medika - Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC) playing a strategic role as the medical services coordinator for VVIP guests. IHC prepared 30 medical personnel, including doctors and nurses, and 7 Ambulance Rescue units equipped with Mini ICU facilities until May 25, 2024, at the WWF venue.
Pelita Air, an airline operating routes to Bali, also prepared its best fleet and services for the convenience of WWF participants.
"The Pertamina Group is fully committed to playing its role in supporting the WWF event and maintaining water sustainability across its various business lines while engaging the community to actively manage water wisely," Fadjar explained.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
