Energy, Sustainability and Climate Business 20 (TS ESC-B20) Task Force fully supports the electric vehicle ecosystem development in Indonesia through the B20 Side Event Ready to eMove, held in Jakarta on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. Focus Group Discussion with the Special Staff of the President of the Republic of Indonesia discussed that one of the efforts to achieve the Indonesian government's target in the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to increase emission reductions and achieve Net Zero Emission by 2060 with the key role of implementing electric vehicles.

Leading the energy transition, Pertamina continues to promote collaboration with various national and global companies. This is a manifestation of Pertamina's commitment to support the clean energy transition program and the 29% emission reduction target by 2030.

Pertamina, in collaboration with SRE and PwC, held the third Webinar of the B20 Energy, Sustainability, and Climate Task Force on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. The webinar was one of the side events of the Energy, Sustainability, and Climate Essay Competition. The webinar was streamed live on the Pertamina YouTube channel with the theme “Accelerate the Transition of Sustainable Energy Use.” The top 10 finalists of the Energy, Sustainability, and Climate International Essay Competition were also announced in this webinar.

Task Force Energy, Sustainability, and Climate (TF ESC) B20, in collaboration with the Society of Renewable Energy (SRE), held the second webinar in the side event of the TF ESC International Essay Competition with the theme “Global Cooperation on Enhancing Energy Security” on Thursday, July 28, 2022. The webinar was attended by many enthusiast participants from around the world. This second webinar presented many remarkable speakers specializing in the energy field, including Jacques Warichet, the Power System Transformation Analyst from the International Energy Agency, Nuki Agya Utama, Executive Director - ASEAN Center for Energy, and Chair of G20 Energy Transition Working Group Yudo Dwinanda Priadi.

Technology Readiness, Economic Feasibility, and Access & Infrastructure are the main challenges in the energy transition to combat climate change. To get the full support in technology and financing from global collaboration, the Task Force on Energy, Sustainability, and Climate B20, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and IRENA, hold the 2nd Partners in Energy Transitions. This event aims to open wider synergies between international parties, to unlock the potential of new renewable energy in Indonesia more concretely.

In the dialog “Sustainable Finance for Climate Transition” in Bali, July 14, 2022, Pertamina President Director, Nicke Widyawati said that Pertamina continues to accelerate the energy transition towards sustainable energy use, ensuring a just and affordable transition, and increasing energy security.

Task Force Energy, Sustainability and climate (TF ESC) B20 Indonesia has just held the 5th Call Meeting.This meeting was the last call meeting to formulate policy recommendations and policy actions that have been discussed with all members of TF ESC in the previous five months.

B20 Indonesia held a dialogue forum: The Energy Transition In Growth Markets (21/06/2022). This hybrid forum which was held in Rome, Italy, was a side event of the Task Force Energy, Sustainability & Climate (ESC) and the Task Force Future of Work and Education in collaboration with Accenture International Utilities and Energy Conference.With the theme of "Maximizing The Value of The Energy Transition in Growth Markets and Paving The Way to B20," TF ESC conveyed the policy recommendations that have been prepared, focusing on 3 recommendations with 12 policy actions that call for global cooperation.

Task Force Energy, Sustainability and Climate (TF ESC) B20 held The Fourth Task Force Call Meeting (24/5/2022) which was attended by 140 participants from 19 industries and 25 countries. At this 4th meeting, one of the discussion focuses was Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of policy recommendations. In addition, the policy recommendations are ensured to be in line with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets, such as those related to affordable clean energy and to climate action. The main objective of this forum is to ensure an inclusive process in the recommendations and policies formulation in which all members of the Task Force have the opportunity to express their outlooks.

Task Force Energy, Sustainability, and Climate (ESC) of B20 held a side event entitled Transition to Cleaner Energy for Mobility and Other Towards Zero-Emission (20/5/2022). The side event discussed strategic issues with stakeholders to address the challenges regarding world energy issues following several actions by the Task Force ESC, including accelerating the transition to sustainable energy use.

The 3rd Task Force Call Meeting (19/4) discuss and review the policies recommendations and action to be more constructive. The meeting was attended by around 140 members, lead by Chair TF ESC B20, Nicke Widyawati, followed by Deputy Chair Task Force ESC, Agung Wicaksono, Manager Policy Task Force ESC, Oki Muraza, 8 Co Chairs Task Force ESC B20 and other B20 members from 19 industries and 25 countries.

Energy, Sustainability, and Climate Task Force B20 held a virtual business meeting "B20 Indonesia: Partners in Energy Transition" in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Indonesia (1/4/2022) to present Indonesia's energy transition plan from a real sector perspective and to offer cooperation on energy transition projects that can become concrete results for Indonesia Presidency in G20 2022. This virtual business meeting aims to seek investment opportunities and partnerships among G20 countries, especially green projects.

In the G20 Forum, Pertamina’s direct involvement in ESC Task Force B20 invites the younger generation to collaborate to succeed in Indonesia’s energy transition. The Youth Forum Energy Transitions, which was organized by the Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) in Yogyakarta (25/3), was one of the youth collaborations. This program was an opportunity for Indonesia’s best young generation to participate in supporting programs toward clean energy.

The Energy Transition Working Group (ETWG) is part of G20 Presidency events attended by 20 participating countries, with eight countries attending offline, namely Indonesia, Australia, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United States. On this agenda, Net Zero Emission 2060 strategic cooperation was signed. ESC Task Force B20, through Deputy Chair Agung Wicaksono, affirms the commitment to support the three main issues of energy transition presented by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif, those are access, technology, and funding.

Energy, Sustainability, and Climate (ESC) Task Force B20 takes concrete actions in implementing the energy transition. One of them is the installation of Solar PV in rural areas. Pertamina, together with SRE (Society of Renewable Energy) and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, activated a Go Gerilya (Solar Electricity Initiative Movement) by installing Solar PV in 10 villages assisted by Pertamina. This program is part of Pertamina's ESG commitment in line with the SDGs, particularly point 7: Clean & Affordable Energy and point 13: Climate Action.

Energy, Sustainability & Climate (ESC) Task Force B20 continues to ensure relevant and actionable policy recommendations for the G20 Presidency. The Task Force, led by the President Director of Pertamina, held a Second Task Force Call Meeting (22/3/2022) to ensure an inclusive process in formulating recommendations and policy actions by providing opportunities for the task force members to convey their views.

This is the 3rd Stakeholder Consultation of Task Force Energy, Sustainability, & Climate B20 2022. This agenda represents the views of the business actors/financial sector institutions to obtain input on priority issues brought by the Task Force Energy, Sustainability, & Climate (ESC) B20. In this occasion, the topics focus on the financing aspect at scale with predictability on the availability of finance for energy transition investments.

Through the 2nd Call Meeting on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, the Energy, Sustainable, and Climate (ESC) Task Force B20 invited global companies to participate in creating policies that will be followed up on the G20 presidency. In the meeting, three policy recommendations and 14 recommendations for further action were discussed and followed by a discussion from all co-chairs present.

The first discussion to gather inputs on the draft of the policy recommendation which will be submitted to the G20 at the end of the B20 Presidency (22/2). The meeting was led by Nicke Widyawati as the Chair of Energy, Sustainability, and Climate Task Force, supported by Agung Wicaksono as Deputy Chair, Oki Muraza as Policy Manager, and PWC and BCG as Knowledge Partner. The Energy, Sustainability, and Climate Task Force comprise 152 business executives that represent 25 different countries and 19 top-level industries.

The event is to formally and publicly start the B20 Indonesia presidency. The event that was held at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, on Friday (28/1/2022), was also convened renowned global business leaders and experts to share their on-the-ground experience and insider perspectives around the main topics prioritized for B20 Indonesia—embracing collaborative recovery and growth, boosting an innovative global economy, and forging an inclusive and sustainable future. The Energy, Sustainability, and Climate Task Force, which Nicke Widyawati leads, has prepared three recommendations for a green energy transition which will be presented at the G20 Summit in Bali in November 2022.

This agenda was attended by relevant business communities and President Director of PT Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, as the Chair of the B20 Energy. 2nd Stakeholder Consultation, that has been held in 18th of January, joined 24 business entities and associations in Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and forming the Energy, Sustainability & Climate Task Force to strengthen Indonesia's role as the Group of Twenty (G20) Presidency upcoming in November 2022.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on January 18, 2022, to coincide with the agenda of the Stakeholders Consultation by the B20 Task Force on Energy, Sustainability, and Climate. Pertamina collaborates with several key national and international partners, including PT Grab Teknologi Indonesia, PT Sepeda Untuk Indonesia Jababeka, Inpex Corporation (Inpex), and Chiyoda Corporation (Chiyoda). The goal of the collaboration is to undertake research and look at net-zero emission breakthroughs, such as technology, environmentally friendly energy, carbon offsets, and other possible collaborations. It is also to support the government's program to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060 and to reduce carbon emissions in 2030 between 29%-41%.

This agenda, which was held in the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday, on December 28, 2021, was a discussion medium and providing input on related policies to align all regulations with the needs of business entities. In the forum attended by several related key parties, President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, conveyed that global energy transition faster than targeted due to the pandemic and the achievement of net-zero emission has become a necessity. There were three main topics discussed in the event: Accelerate The Transition to Sustainable Energy Use, Ensure a Just and Orderly Transition, and Addressing Energy Poverty.
