The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on January 18, 2022, to coincide with the agenda of the Stakeholders Consultation by the B20 Task Force on Energy, Sustainability, and Climate. Pertamina collaborates with several key national and international partners, including PT Grab Teknologi Indonesia, PT Sepeda Untuk Indonesia Jababeka, Inpex Corporation (Inpex), and Chiyoda Corporation (Chiyoda). The goal of the collaboration is to undertake research and look at net-zero emission breakthroughs, such as technology, environmentally friendly energy, carbon offsets, and other possible collaborations. It is also to support the government's program to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060 and to reduce carbon emissions in 2030 between 29%-41%.
This agenda, which was held in the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday, on December 28, 2021, was a discussion medium and providing input on related policies to align all regulations with the needs of business entities. In the forum attended by several related key parties, President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, conveyed that global energy transition faster than targeted due to the pandemic and the achievement of net-zero emission has become a necessity. There were three main topics discussed in the event: Accelerate The Transition to Sustainable Energy Use, Ensure a Just and Orderly Transition, and Addressing Energy Poverty.
